History of Mundaring

The Shire of Mundaring, located in eastern metropolitan Perth, Western Australia, encompasses an area of 645 square kilometers. At the time of the 2016 Census, it was home to approximately 38,000 residents.

Its history dates back to April 17, 1903, when it was established as the Greenmount Road District. Later, on March 29, 1934, it was renamed the Mundaring Road District. With the enactment of the Local Government Act 1960 on July 1, 1961, all remaining road districts were restructured into shires, leading to its designation as the Shire of Mundaring.
